Start with shape and colour
Regulatory signs tell you what you must or must not do. Warning signs tell you about a hazard ahead. Temporary signs, often orange, tell you about road work or a changed condition. Information and direction signs help you find your way. On this site, every sign illustration is an original practice drawing, not an official sign image.
Study in small sets
Do not try to memorise every sign at once. Practise one family at a time — regulatory signs first, then warning signs, then temporary signs — and read the explanation after each question. Practice mode is made for that: it shows the explanation right away.
Then take the signs section
The mock test on this site uses 20 signs, signals and markings questions and 20 rules questions, with a target of 16/20 per section. That format is a target format to be confirmed against the official source on ontario.ca / DriveTest. Use the official MTO Driver's Handbook as your reference for the current rules.
