Discover Canada chapters: a study guide

Citizenship practice on this site follows the chapters of Discover Canada: the official study guide for the citizenship test. Study one chapter at a time, then practise it before moving on.

Unofficial practice test. Not affiliated with the Government of Canada or Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). This is not the official citizenship test.

The ten chapters used here

Rights and Responsibilities; Who We Are; Canada's History; Modern Canada; How Canadians Govern Themselves; Federal Elections; The Justice System; Canadian Symbols; Canada's Economy; and Canada's Regions. The practice bank has 180 original questions spread across those chapters, with an explanation and a chapter reference for every question.

How to use the chapters

Read a chapter in Discover Canada first, then practise that chapter in practice mode. The explanation after each question points back to the chapter topic, so a wrong answer becomes a study note, not just a lost point.

Then take the mock test

The mock test on this site uses 20 questions drawn at random across all chapters, with a target of 15/20. That format is a target format to be confirmed against the current official IRCC information on canada.ca / IRCC. Note that some third-party summaries list different chapter groupings; the ten-chapter structure above is the one used for the practice bank.
